About the Society

The Quuquuatsa Language Society (QLS) is a legally registered society formed by language students at North Island College taking the Nuu chah nulth Language course delivered by the Huu ay aht Nation. QLS is governed through a volunteer board of directors.

We have developed a strategic plan and we have secured a 2014-2015 Memorandum of Understanding and Service Agreement with the University of Victoria and North Island College. We have been designing and delivering courses with our partners since 2012.

We seek to work with all like-minded action oriented people, communities, and organizations to realize our strategic plan that is fueled by our passion to reclaim our language, our vision and our mission statement.  We are a learner-driven volunteer community organization. We are not a well-funded government agency.

The Quuquuatsa Language Society has received financial donations from almost all Nuu-chah-nulth Nations to continue our community based language courses; (North to South)
